nuclear definitely dropped the ball this month.
it owes japan one hell of an apology letter.
as scary as nuclear is, let's not forget that it's still kicking the competitions ass when it comes to bodily harm.
here's an image that puts the danger of nuclear power into perspective.

what makes my job fun
retainer media was hired by CLASH (california league of adult scavenger hunters) to do a promo video for their site.
we spent our saturday night chasing after crazy scavenger hunters on a mission for eternal glory.
this was the most fun we've ever had on a shoot and it was hard to hold the camera steady because we were laughing so hard.
if you live in the bay area, i highly recommend participating in one of CLASH's events.
it's super cheap and by the end of the night i guarantee you will have made new friends.

john smith
'this american life' is one of the best radio shows in america.
when it branched out into television i was weary of consuming such a beautiful auditory experience in a visual environment.
i watched season 1 and 2 of this american life this week.
for the most part the episodes were exactly what i expected.
great audio interviews flavored with cliche b-roll footage.
but then...
i watched episode 6 of the 2nd season.
and saw 44 beautiful minutes of poignant documentary film.
the episode follows 7 different men at different stages in their lives.
all with the same name.
john smith.
the program was incredibly moving and left me teary eyed.
for those of you on netflix, this american life is available to watch on demand.

barney's version
'barney's version' could possibly be the most romantic film i've ever seen.
excellent story supplemented with a killer cast.
i've been dating a girl for the past month and i took her to see it with me.
for reasons i can't quite articulate, the film compelled me to break up with the girl on the way home from the movie theatre.
i'm assuming i would have gotten around to it eventually, but this film definitely gave me a shot of adrenaline.
